The Environmental Impact Report
For the Rehova mining area documents a comprehensive assessment of surface water quality conducted over three seasons—March, June, and September 2018. This monitoring initiative aimed to evaluate contamination levels from historical mining activities and ongoing operations, focusing on heavy metals such as lead, copper, arsenic, and manganese. Samples were collected from 15 points across the region, revealing that most contaminants were within permissible limits; however, elevated concentrations of lead, manganese, and zinc were noted in specific locations, indicating localized pollution. The study attributes these findings to residual impacts from the now-defunct copper processing plant and historical mining waste.
